Essentials: Converse Chuck Taylors

What can I say about the Chuck Taylor these shits are crazy. Probably my second favourite shoe compared to the Jordan 1. Chucks are probably the only shoe that anyone can wear and it won't look bad, they go with anything and is probably the only shoe that I own that think they look better when they get scuffed up and a little dirty. Definitely a very important shoe to me and I think globally the most recognizable show. It has been often imitated but never duplicated, and to me Chuck Taylor's are like Heinz Ketchup you need to get the real thing you can't get the fake stuff. These are kicks that I think everyone should own at least pair. But warning they are like Pringles so once you pop you might not be able to stop. I'm definitely gonna copp some new ones for the summer.

Essentials: The Varsity

The varsity is just one of those pieces that is just a must have in any collection. It's just one of those pieces that never goes old, its timeless. I have always been a fan of clothing that resembled the collegiate and ivy league aesthetic. Now that I have gotten older I have really taken in the saying "less is more". So the simplicity of a basic Varsity is always been a clean look and can be worn in more dressed up situations and well as just hitting the block and just killing it. in a more casual setting.So no matter how you dress it you can never fail with a varsity. well never say never.

Most of you know that one of our beloved sneaker stores Goodfoot has closed for other business endeavors. Now I know this has been closed for a couple of months now so I guess it has settled in and people are getting used to the idea that one of the cities gems has shut down. I know that the sneakerhead look right now is being looked at as a young boys game and a lot of former heads have turned in those infa-red 90s for Sperry Topsiders and Red Wings. Which is not a bad look either,but i mean some days when the weather is right there's nothing like hitting the block with a fresh pair of sneakers on. I also didn't realize how much the trusty ole GDFT meant to me until the other night when I was about 6 Rum & Cokes deep and ran into one of my boys on the subway,and we had this discussion about the closure of one of our favourites spots crushed us. There's more to GoodFoot than just kicks its kinda like a secret club that you are apart of.So when you someone walking down the street with that all black everything bag you know where they just made a purchase or when you were outta town and rocking a G' Fitted and people saw you then knew you were probably from Toronto. So that G' fitted was kinda like our Canuck version of a Yankee Fitted. So all I'm saying is that Goodfoot was more than a dope spot to get exclusies it was a lifestyle,and a place where T-Dot representers could call our own...
So all and all GoodFoot you will truly be missed.

Death to Jordan Fusions...

This is something that has bothered me ever since I saw them in a store...I have been a lover of Jordans and spent a lot of hard earned money on Nike Air Jordans,and also wasn't shy in the summer to get a fresh pair of AF1's. But for some reason the good people at Nike and Jordan Brand decided that the two shoes should join for forces and create a sneaker. I am sure the two are just like proud parents and never want to admit that you have a ugly child but I am sorry guys you really Effed up with this one. Why can't you just let an Air Force be an Air force and a Jordan be a Jordan. It's like Nike went to the Air Force and said what do you want to be for Halloween and the Air Force replied " An Air Jordan". Me complaining about this is not going to change anything because for some reason Air Jordan Fusions are flying off the shelves....
It hurts my heart but I mean if you feel like your really doing it in some Air Fusions power to you.. but remember this it's like driving a Chrysler 300 and then have a Bentley pull up beside you....

Could we lose the Jays...

It is safe to say that Baseball definitely isn't Canada's favourite past time,but for me growing up the Blue Jays were the only good team we had to cheer for. I mean sure the leafs went to the playoffs and stuff, but I mean when the Jays won the world series TWICE I was apart of that going to school and every other 10 yr old boy had on some sort of Blue jays gear on. It was a beautiful thing and nowadays you go to Jays games and it looks like its some sort beer league championships the place is empty. I know that baseball is also viewed as a summer time activity because there is nothing better and having a couple colds ones when the dome is open and just watching a little baseball. So hopefully with this record low attendance thing happening ... it is something that is sort lived because if the Jays leave it would be very unfortunate.

Essentials: Yankee Fitted...

This goes with the nice weather like peanut butter and jelly. I know, I am residing in the Dot so I should really be repping a Jays cap but the Yankee Fitted is a staple with everything that is right with hip hop.
there's nothing that looks cleaner than that navy blue wool paired with that crisp white embroidered NY logo. If this was the early 2000's I would probably pair it with some all white airs, but now it might be some all white vans or probably some Sperry's but still you need that yanks in your arsenal or your just not doing it.

Gourmet has done it again and came out with a another dope sneaker. They always have an interesting way of finding new silhouettes,or giving a new twist to classic looks. The Cinque is like a beautiful looking low top sneaker that looks fresh,but when they choose to use the Salmon Canvas with the light brown leather accents finished with the white sole... I just knew I had to out it together some khaki coloured chinos and hit the streets with these this summer ...

RIP Guru

What a sad sad day ... in the hip hop world because today marked the death of 1/2 of one of the best rap duos to ever do it. Gangstarr is definitely one of my fav's to bless the mic with the dope cuts and samples from premo, to the kinda monotone but smooth flow of Guru. Gangstarr definitely gives you that just wanna rock hoodies, Tims and Military jackets, and just hit the block type of vibe. So I'm sure I could write more about the bio of Guru or tell you a story of when I first got put on to Gangstarr.. but I'm not, lets just pay homage... to one of the Greats..
